On Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady cruise ship, a tourist fell from an upper balcony to the lower deck from a height of about 10 stories and landed on top of another vacationer. The woman crashed to death, the passenger on whom she fell was not seriously injured and is doing well, DailyStar reports.
The tragedy happened a few hours after the cruise ship departed from the coast to Miami and went to Honduras. For unknown reasons, the woman fell from the balcony to the lower deck of the ship and died. The man she landed on was treated and is in stable condition.
A representative of the cruise company commented on the situation: “The passenger fell from her balcony to the lower deck level and, despite immediate medical attention, died. We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our hearts and thoughts are with the loved ones of this man.”
After the adventure, the liner interrupted the cruise and returned to the port of Miami. Passengers are offered compensation and a discount on future cruises. Virgin Voyagers staff are working with the police to establish all the circumstances of what happened.
This is not the first time tragedy has struck the Valiant Lady. So, on April 1, 2022, a Briton threw himself into the sea from a ship at the end of a tour of the Mediterranean Sea. The cruise ship was returning to Portsmouth when the man jumped overboard in the Bay of Biscay on the west coast of France.
