Flights, trains, and ferries have been canceled in Britain as the Met Office warns that winds could reach 80mph (128km/h – UNIAN).
According to the Independent, in the four days before Christmas, hundreds of thousands of people abandoned their plans as hundreds of trains, ferries, and flights were canceled.
In Scotland and northern England, some train lines have been closed due to fears that obstructions could be blown onto the tracks. Elsewhere speed limits are in place.
British Airways canceled at least 24 flights, while Scottish airline Loganair suspended some flights. Many ferries also remain in port. Some rail lines in Scotland are completely closed due to Storm Pia.

As reported by DIP, it is expected that the weather on the European continent will deteriorate in the coming days. For example, in Ireland, for the first time in many years, the temperature dropped below zero, and ice and even snow were recorded in places.
Moreover, the weather is expected to deteriorate even more in the coming days. Forecasters predict that Europe will be “frozen” by waves. In particular, cold temperatures may invade Western and Central Europe towards the end of December. However, Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain, Turkey, and the Balkans are forecast to be warmer than usual at times.
