Bali is introducing a new tourism tax aimed at improving the tourist experience, preserving Balinese culture, and improving environmental protection.
As reported by eTurboNews, from February 14, all foreign tourists visiting the Indonesian island will be required to pay a tourist tax of Rp 150,000. This fee applies not only to mainland Bali but also to surrounding islands such as Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. The tax is mandatory even for tourists arriving from other parts of Indonesia by land or domestic flights, with no exceptions for children.
The tax can be paid in advance through the Love Bali website, and once the process is completed, tourists will receive a tourist tax ticket via email. This e-ticket must be saved on their mobile phones as it will be checked at the Bali airport and seaports.
The tax is said to be intended to improve tourism services, preserve Balinese culture, and strengthen environmental protection measures. This decision was made in light of problems associated with the overcrowding of tourists. It is noted that 5.2 million people visited Bali last year, and 7 million tourists are expected to arrive this year.
