Twelve tourists, including two children, ended up in the hospital after a terrible awakening in one of the hotels in the Turkish resort of Marmaris. A fire broke out in a hotel with 30 rooms, as a result of which the hotel became “unusable”, as formulated by the Turkish media. It has already been established that the cause of the fire was arson, and the bartender of the same hotel was the culprit.
The details are as follows: the incident happened late in the evening, and firefighters were called by passers-by who saw the flames. A total of 12 tourists, including two children, were evacuated from the 30-room hotel and sent to the hospital. Tourists mostly inhaled the smoke, now their health is out of danger, sources add. As a result of the fire, the hotel “became unusable”.
The investigation, which was started by the officers of the Marmaris District Police Department, based on the testimony of eyewitnesses and hot leads, quickly led to one of the tenants of the hotel, who rented the premises of the bar from the hotel. It turned out that the bartender set the fire. According to him, the tenant was extremely angry that the owner of the hotel constantly raised the rent. The fireman also stated that he poured gasoline from his car to set it alight. The accused also stated that he “wanted to set fire only to the chairs and tables”, he did not expect that the entire hotel would burn down and he regretted the arson.
We will remind you that fires in hotels in Turkey happened several times during the season. At the beginning of September, a severe fire broke out in a hotel in the resort of Alanya. Some of the tourists were evacuated, the rest managed to escape, and two firefighters were injured. The fire broke out around 11:00 a.m. on the roof of one of the hotels in the Kestel district.
Forest fires also “reached” hotels, just like last summer. At the end of July, the forest fire that broke out in the forest area of Icmeler Turunc reached Marmaris. Due to the strong wind, the fire, which quickly became a wildfire, grew rapidly, the flames spread to private villas and the Hotel Paktyka, and several hotels were affected by the elements. The fire was fought, including from the air, 5 airplanes, 10 helicopters, 34 fireboats and more than 150 units of ground equipment were involved.
