The scandal with NP, at first glance, which sounds quite funny, is being investigated in Egypt. The fact is that, as reported by the local press, a hotel sank in an Egyptian resort. We are talking, of course, about floating hotels plying on the Nile, and it happened in Luxor. At the same time, the main problem is that the hotel, which has been idle for almost 13 years, was being prepared to be put into operation and accommodate tourists. But suddenly there was a disaster.
According to the Egyptian publication Egypt Independent, the head of the Central Administration of Hotel Enterprises, Mohamed Amer, confirmed that the hotel did not have a license and there were no tourists. The story developed as follows: Since 2010, the hotel ship was decommissioned. However, its owner recently appealed to the Ministry of Transport and the General Directorate of River Transport of Egypt with a request for repairs so that the hotel can operate in the upcoming winter season.
As a result, the liner was raised and repaired in one of the specialized workshops approved by the Main Directorate of River Transport. Moreover, the hotel was inspected by the management, and on August 23, the owner was allowed to return it to the water until obtaining the remaining necessary licenses.
However, the tourists were lucky – the disaster happened earlier. While the floating hotel was parked near the pier, it inexplicably tilted to one side, took on water, and settled to the bottom of the pier without completely sinking.
As a result, a video with a “sunken hotel” was circulated on social networks and mass media. The Main Directorate of River Transport said that it is waiting for the investigation of the prosecutor’s office, which will determine the causes of the incident.
