Next year, six gourmets will embark on a culinary journey into space, where they will be treated to dinner from a two-Michelin-starred chef.
According to DailyMail, the ticket price will be $495,000. Rasmus Munch, head chef of the Alchemist restaurant in Copenhagen, offers a unique chance to dine beyond the ordinary and in every sense “on top”.
In 2024, six selected and fairly wealthy guests will be able to fly to an altitude of approximately 30 kilometers on board a special “space ball”. During the six-hour flight, they will be served food inspired by space exploration.
This unique event will cost a pretty penny but will offer unprecedented views of Earth and perhaps a new perception of our planet.
The journey will take place aboard Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune capsule. This is not a traditional spaceship, but a capsule suspended from a hydrogen balloon. The flight promises to be so smooth that it will not require special participant training.
During the flight, which launches in Florida, guests will be able to view the Earth through the largest window ever launched into space and see the sun rise over its curve. Chef Munch emphasizes that the importance of this experience will not only be the dinner but also the awareness of the connection between people when looking at the Earth from such a height.
Menu details are being kept secret for now, but it is known that there will be no cooking over an open fire. It is also unclear whether the food will be prepared on board or served ready-made.
The Alchemist claims that it will not only be a luxurious trip but also a “socially responsible” one. All proceeds will go to a charity that supports women’s participation in the space industry.
The organizers hope that such an unusual view of the Earth will help people take a fresh look at our planet and realize its vulnerability and beauty.
