The vast majority of hotels in the popular Side of Turkey have closed and at the same time, the beaches have been emptied. The reason is the end of the 2023 tourist season. The Turkish newspaper Turkiye Turizm reported on the current situation at the resort.
Sidi, located in the Antalya province of southwestern Turkey, a sought-after Turkish destination for beach and excursion tourism, has reached its low season, a week to a half later than usual. Mehmet Çelik, the owner of an apart-hotel in Side, emphasized the following: “The tourist season of 2023 has ended in the direction of Manavgat-Side. As of November 20, 85-90% of hotels are closed. There are very few customers in the hotel. Summer tourists staying in some open hotels and foreigners staying in residences remained on the beaches.
The interlocutor of the publication also noted that hotels operating under the concept of winter tourism continue to receive summer German and European tourists. “85% of five-star hotels and apart-hotels will be closed for 5 months for repairs and reconstruction by the concept of the new season. The hotels open in winter, though few and far between, welcome older German tourists as well as European sports teams, including cyclists. The beaches, which were filled with vacationers 20 days ago, remained empty,” he added.
