The Swiss authorities have changed their attitude towards COVID-19, recognizing that the disease has moved into the category of endemic, that is, constantly present, but not affecting a large number of people. Based on this, the country’s Federal Council decided to cancel the quarantine requirement for those who had contact with covid patients from February 3. At the same time, the condition on the remote work format will no longer be valid for such citizens, but the requirement for self-isolation remains if a person is diagnosed with COVID-19.
In Switzerland, they look at the development of the situation with the coronavirus positively. Authorities note that hospitals are not overwhelmed, although the number of infected is breaking records. This may be due to the high level of immunity achieved as a result of vaccination or due to already transmitted coronavirus. The Swiss authorities are also aware that the new omicron strain does not result in as high a number of severe complications as was seen with previous variants of COVID-19.
In addition to the lifting of quarantine, Switzerland is ready to go further towards the abolition of coronavirus restrictions, but this will require taking into account the epidemiological situation in the country. It is likely that the first stage of easing will begin on February 17. In particular, visitors to restaurants, theaters and other cultural institutions will no longer be required to have a vaccination certificate, restrictions on the organization of private events will be lifted, and the obligation to issue a permit to organize mass events in the fresh air, outdoors, will be removed. The requirements for visitors to swimming pools, spas and discos will also change. If now, in order to get there, you need to show at the entrance a certificate of vaccination, which is no more than 4 months old, or as an alternative, a certificate along with a PCR test, now it will be enough just a valid certificate of vaccination against coronavirus.
The next and final step will be the lifting of all other restrictive measures, including the need to wear masks in public places and carry a vaccination passport with you.
