Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday.
The Liaison Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration reported that the leaders of the two countries discussed the results of the recent talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul.
Erdogan drew the attention of his Russian colleague to the positive attitude and constructiveness of the Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul, which “increased hopes for peace.”
The Turkish leader stressed the importance of maintaining sanity in the positions of the parties and continuing the dialogue.
Erdogan also announced the readiness of the Turkish side to organize a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine.
The Russian leader, in turn, expressed gratitude to President Erdogan for organizing a meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul.
