The Czech authorities, guided by the lists of sanctions against Russia, froze the property of Russian businessmen in the country for millions of euros. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petar Fiala on state television, quoted by TASS.
“We are playing a leading role in Europe in the process of imposing sanctions (against Russia). We froze the property of Russian oligarchs for hundreds of millions of crowns (millions of euros). Freezing of property is carried out in accordance with sanctions,” he said.
Fiala said the government was initiating changes to Czech legislation on sanctions against Russia. According to him, it is necessary to ensure that companies related to persons on the sanctions list continue to operate and their employees remain at work.
The nationalization of frozen Russian property in the Czech Republic is out of the question, Fiala said, adding that such an issue is not being discussed. According to the Prime Minister, such an approach would be contrary to the democratic principles of the country.
