“Russian airlines began to take away aircraft. The VP-BJL Nordwind Airlines flight (Boeing 777-300ER) flew today from Khabarovsk to Mexico City and did not return: the insurance was canceled due to sanctions,” FrequentFlyers reported at 16:50 today. The cargo plane is owned by Dubai-based DAE Capital. Today, for the same reason, a Boeing 737 aircraft operated by the Pobeda airline was forced to stay in Istanbul.
A day earlier, the EU authorities decided to completely ban the supply and leasing of aircraft to Russia, as well as their insurance and maintenance. All new Airbus aircraft will be required to be returned to the lessor by March 28. The official position on Boeing did not sound.
This afternoon there was information that Aeroflot allegedly will not give the planes to European leasing companies and is counting on government assistance in buying them out.
