In Russia, hundreds of people again took to the streets to protest against the war in Ukraine. Protests took place across the country on Saturday and Sunday. Arrests were made in 37 cities – more than 800 protesters were arrested in total.

Protests took place in Vladivostok in eastern Russia, in Irkutsk on Lake Baikal, in the Siberian city of Tomsk, as well as in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Many journalists were arrested in St. Petersburg.

Thus, since the beginning of the war, the number of detained protesters in Russia has reached 14,000, according to Owd-Info. In Moscow, the square near the Kremlin, beloved by tourists, was fenced off with a metal grate.

Hundreds of OMON special forces were ready, partially equipped with body armor and helmets.

Armed security forces also stood in front of the State Duma building. A large number of vehicles were also parked at the site to transport the detainees. Opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who has been in prison for several months, had earlier called on his supporters to protest the war in Ukraine.
