In Peru, archaeologists have discovered the mummies of children who may have been sacrificed

Archaeologists have discovered six mummies of Inca children near Lima, which were probably sacrificed 1,000 years ago to accompany the nobleman to the afterlife, according to AFP.

The mummy of an elite man was discovered last November in the town of Cajamarcilla, 26 km east of the capital Lima, by a team from the University of San Marcos. It was located in a conical burial chamber with a depth of 1.40 m.

The man was between 18 and 22 years old, but had a high social and economic status, said archaeologist Peter Van Dalen, who led the excavations.

According to him, Kahamarkila was an important city center with a population of 10,000 to 20,000 people. It was built around 200 BC. and lasted until the 16th century.

Earlier, the DIP wrote that two sphinxes over 3,000 years old were found in an Egyptian temple.
