“I believe that this meeting (Vladimir Zelensky with Vladimir Putin – ed.) will at some point lead to a peaceful compromise,” said Ibrahim Kalin, an adviser and press secretary to the Turkish president, in the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet. He also warned that now any actions against Russia “will have an impact on the future new security architecture.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready to talk with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s chief adviser and spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, said on Saturday, quoted by the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet on Saturday. – President Zelensky is ready for this. In turn, Putin believes that the parties have not yet reached a common vision of negotiations at the level of heads of state, Ibrahim Kalin stressed.
In his opinion, Putin believes that his position for negotiations is not yet strong enough to conduct them, Kalin explained in an interview.
A call for caution in decisions
– I believe that this meeting will someday come to this meeting, that we will finally come to a peaceful compromise, – said the Turkish politician. – Of course, we all want this to happen sooner rather than later (…). We cannot afford another cold war, because it would be destructive and costly for all parties (…) – he estimated.
“Every decision, every step towards Russia in the military, political or any other sphere will now influence the future new security architecture,” Kalin concluded.
