The rating of the world’s most powerful passports in 2024 was marked by an unusual record

For the first time in 19 years of observation, six countries took first place with a record number of opportunities for visa-free travel.

For 2023, Ukraine concluded visa-free agreements with Kenya, Myanmar, and Ethiopia, but fell in the ranking of countries with the strongest passports from 30th to 32nd place due to changes in the positions of other countries.

According to the data of the World Passport Index for the first quarter of 2024 published on January 10 by the Henley & Partners company, based on the data of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), at the moment, the passport of Ukraine provides visa-free access to 148 out of 227 destinations in the world.

At the same time, for the first time in the company’s 19 years of monitoring, six countries took first place with a record number of opportunities for visa-free travel: four of them are European Union countries – Germany, Italy, Spain and France, and two Asian countries – Singapore and Japan. Holders of passports in these countries can travel without a visa to 194 destinations around the world.

South Korea, Finland, and Sweden took second place (193 visa-free destinations), while Austria, Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands shared third place (192). Great Britain has moved to fourth position (191), and the United States is in seventh place (187) – back in 2014, both countries topped the ranking.
