Pope Francis has condemned the war in Ukraine, saying “unacceptable armed aggression” must end, according to Reuters.
This is the Holy Father’s strongest condemnation of the war in Ukraine, the agency notes.
Addressing thousands of people gathered in St. Peter’s Square for a traditional Sunday blessing, the head of the Roman Catholic Church said the bombing of hospitals and other civilian facilities was “barbaric” and could not be justified by any “strategic arguments.”
“In the name of the Lord God, I urge you to stop this carnage!” – he said, adding that Ukrainian cities risk turning into a cemetery.
