Russia is just beginning to realize the real cost of the war, a representative of the Ukrainian negotiating team said today, according to AFP.
In an interview with the Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail in Lviv, Mykhailo Podoliak, a close aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said the Russians thought they would gain a full advantage at the start of the war. “They did not expect such strong resistance in Ukraine,” Podoliak said.
“They are just beginning to realize the real cost of war. And now we are starting constructive talks, “added Podoliak, who took part in the first two negotiating sessions between Russia and Ukraine on the Belarusian border.
The third round of talks is scheduled for Monday.
