Ukraine announced today that it is resuming the evacuation of civilians along three humanitarian corridors, including from besieged Mariupol, after a one-day break due to fears of Russian “provocations,” AFP reported.
“To date, three humanitarian corridors have been approved,” Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said in a video published in the Telegram.
According to her, the first corridor will be between Mariupol and the city of Zaporizhia, and from Berdyansk, from where civilians have already been evacuated to Zaporizhia.
The second will be from the Russian-controlled southern city of Melitopol to Zaporozhye, and the third to Zaporozhye from Energodar, a village with a nuclear power plant that was also captured by Moscow.
Humanitarian corridors are usually organized daily to evacuate civilians who have suffered the most from the fighting. Ukraine has repeatedly accused Russia of attacking these corridors, especially around the devastated besieged Mariupol, according to AFP.
