WHO: The number of new cases of COVID-19 in the world is growing again

The number of new cases of covid infection in the world has increased for the first time since late January, according to DPA, citing information from the World Health Organization.

Infections in the second week of March were 8 percent higher than in the previous week.

In the week from March 7 to 13, more than 11 million new cases of coronavirus and 43 thousand deaths were registered. The organization notes an increase in the number of cases in the western Pacific and Africa, where the number of new cases increased by 29% and 12%, respectively. In Europe, the number of new cases increased by 2 percent in a week.

The number of patients decreased in the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, North and South America. The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the world since the pandemic has reached 455 million, fatalities – 6 million.
