Construction at Abu Dhabi’s first medical center in the region is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of this year, and patients plan to arrive at the facility for 500 million dirhams ($ 136 million) by early 2022, according to CEO Ahmed Ali. .
The 82,000-square-foot, 12-story building in the city of Khalifa includes three floors of basement parking, four retail floors for 25 food and beverage units and a hypermarket, as well as five floors with a total area of 19,000 square meters for security facilities. health – such as hospital, medical clinics, dental practice, medical laboratories and gym.
“We are completing construction by the third quarter of this year, so we will be 100 percent complete by August, and from there we will give residents a grace period to begin their training. We must be able to accept customers by early 2022,” Ali said.
Work on the project first began in 2016, with land provided by the Abu Dhabi Health Department.
Ali said discussions had taken place with medical staff as well as F&B suppliers.
He said: “We have several interested international health care providers who have kept in touch with us. Some of them have come to the site, they have visited the site and taken a tour, and they are planning to start their business in the UAE, at our facility. We would like to make sure we have the right mix. “
Ali added that they also sought to attract newly established enterprises to the institution. “We are adding this facility to the economy. Any new starter will need to make plans, select land, get a permit and start construction. I save at least two to three years to run any start in health care and around 50 percent of the investment, using the provided infrastructure,” he said.
“There are many local doctors who would like to set up their own clinics, so we also offer smaller-scale clinics, from 200 square meters to 500 square meters for those beginners who want to start their own private practice.”
