Romania reports an outbreak of bird flu on a farm near the border with Bulgaria

Romania has reported a new outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 virus, called bird flu, on a farm in the south of the country, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) said today, according to Reuters.

Outbreak in Oinaku (Giurgiu County) near the border with Bulgaria.

It killed 6,770 birds and killed nearly 34,000 remaining on the farm, the Paris-based organization said, citing information from Romanian health authorities.
