The Belgian authorities have decided to introduce a 21-day quarantine for monkeys infected with smallpox.

The decision was made following a meeting of the Belgian risk assessment team following the discovery of three cases of monkeypox infection in the country.

Recall that recent cases of infection with monkeypox were detected in Australia, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, Portugal, USA, France, Switzerland, and Sweden. In this regard, on May 20, WHO held an emergency meeting.
