A new subunit of omicron, Ex I (EE), has been discovered in the UK, and early research has shown that it can be transmitted 10 percent easier than other mutations in omicron, according to Sky News.
Ex I – mutation of sub-variants of omicron VA.1 and VA.2. As of March 22, 637 cases of the disease had been detected in England.
This sub-option is being studied by the British Health Agency. As of March 16, its transmissibility was 9.8 percent higher than that of the stealth version VA.2. The number of cases of recombinant Ex I is still insufficient for regional analysis.
Recombinant variants usually die out relatively quickly, prof. Susan Hopkins, the agency’s chief medical adviser.
Ex I variant of the new coronavirus has also been reported in Thailand and New Zealand.
Ex I belongs to the Omicron variant until significant differences in transmission and disease characteristics are identified.
