Travelers from Estonia, Iceland, Finland and Sweden will have to comply with testing and quarantine requirements when planning to enter Lithuania, as the government has put the countries on a red list of areas that have recently been severely affected by the coronavirus.
According to a statement from the Lithuanian Ministry of Health, the new changes will take effect on August 9.
However, the ministry also explained that travelers from the above-mentioned countries who are fully vaccinated and those who have recovered from the disease will be exempt from the latter rule.
In addition, Luxembourg and Germany were placed in the yellow category, which means that citizens of these territories will also have to carefully comply with entry requirements.
Passengers from the countries included in the yellow category must fill in the form and present a negative PCR or antigen test result, as well as pass another test 3-5 days after arrival in Lithuania.
At the same time, the Czech Republic has been added to the green list, which consists of areas that have recently reported low levels of COVID-19 infection; Thus, Czech citizens will only have to present a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival in Lithuania.
The Baltic authorities have divided the other countries into green, yellow, red and gray, taking into account the situation with COVID-19 in them on the basis of data provided by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
As for travelers from the countries on the red list, they must fill in the arrival form, give a negative PCR result or antigen and remain self-isolated for ten days. However, the Lithuanian Ministry of Health explained that the quarantine period could be shortened to the seventh day if travelers pass the second COVID-19 test and get a negative result.
