The Lithuanian authorities have announced that from today, August 16, Bulgaria, Liechtenstein and Slovenia will move from the green list to the yellow list.
Thus, this means that all travelers who have not been vaccinated or who have not previously been cured of COVID-19 who come from one of these three countries are subject to double testing.
“The COVID-19 test is mandatory for those arriving from these countries before the trip and after arrival in Lithuania (PCR or antigen test is recognized). The test is not required for vaccinated or relapsed people who are on a full vaccination schedule,” the health ministry said in a statement.
According to a press release from the Lithuanian Ministry of Health, travelers over the age of 16 arriving from the yellowlisted country must present a negative PCR or rapid antigen test taken prior to arrival in Lithuania.
When entering Lithuania, the PCR test result should not be older than 72 hours, while the rapid antigen test should be performed 48 hours before entry, according to SchengenVisaInfo.com.
In addition, travelers in this category must pass the second COVID-19 test three to five days after arrival in Lithuania, and complete the arrival form 48 hours before entry.
However, it was emphasized that border workers and persons crossing the border between Lithuania and other countries of the European Economic Area daily or every working day for educational or business purposes are allowed to submit a negative test result up to seven days ago.
In addition to the recently added countries, the yellow list of Lithuania already includes Austria, Croatia, Luxembourg, Norway and Germany. This means that travelers from these countries must follow the same rules as mentioned above.
On the contrary, the Lithuanian authorities follow more lenient rules regarding unvaccinated and incurable travelers coming from countries on the green list. Lithuania’s green list currently includes the Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.
Travelers from these countries only need to fill in the arrival form and present a negative test result when entering the territory of Lithuania.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), since the beginning of the pandemic in Lithuania, 288,747 cases of COVID-19 infection and 4,440 deaths have been registered.
