Information on entry into Japan (as of January 29, 2021)

* At the moment, a state of emergency has been declared in Japan as one of the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus COVID-19. In order to minimize border traffic, please consider moving travel to Japan during a state of emergency if there are no necessary circumstances. We are very grateful for your understanding of the travel plans and your cooperation.

* On January 13, 2021, the Government of Japan decided to suspend entry to Japan from all countries / regions on the basis of residents / business surveillance until the end of the state of emergency. Based on these documents, entry will be prohibited, and based on the Business Track, 14-day quarantine conditions for Japanese citizens and foreigners with resident status will NOT be lifted until the state of emergency expires.

New measures to strengthen border control

  • From December 28, 2020, the reception of documents for visas is suspended (with the exception of visas for persons with a certificate of the Japanese Migration Service with the status: family members of Japanese citizens, family members of persons with permanent residence status, persons with the status long-term stay, treatment).
  • From January 4, 2021, all visas issued from October 1 to December 27, 2020 will expire. Multivisa has lost its force since April 3, 2020.
  • After January 4, 2021, all persons who have a resident card and a re-entry permit can enter Japan if they have a negative PCR test for a standard coronavirus. The form and a sample of its completion can be downloaded from the official website of the Embassy of Japan in the “Visas” section. Contact information for partner clinics, where you can replace the test with the letters of the certificate on the above form, is also available in the visa section”.

  • The above measures will remain in effect until the end of the state of emergency in Japan.

Quarantine arrangements upon arrival

* All persons, including Japanese citizens who have arrived from abroad, must be isolated: you must be at home or book a hotel yourself to stay in it for 14 days

  • in order to get to the place of isolation, it is forbidden to use public transport (including trains, buses, planes, taxis);
  • all people must undergo re-PCR testing upon arrival in Japan;
  • All persons must sign the Promise to comply with the above points, and in case of refusal they should be isolated only in certain places.

• Failure to comply with the quarantine rules is punishable by deprivation of resident status or deportation.
