In Italy, authorities arrested a yacht belonging to the assets of Andrei Melnichenko, a billionaire who fell under EU sanctions because of the war in Ukraine. The length of the yacht arrested by the Financial Guard is 150 m, and the displacement reaches almost 13 thousand tons.
The yacht was launched in Germany in 2008, and its current cost is about 530 million euros. Now this luxurious ship, designed by the French industrial designer Philippe Starck, is moored in the port of Trieste.
Andrei Milnichenko is in the top 10 Russian billionaires. After the businessman fell under European sanctions, he left the boards of directors of the SUEK coal company and the Eurochem holding, and also ceased to be the main beneficiary.
Note that Melnichenko is not the only rich Russian who has had problems with the Italian Financial Guard. Italians arrested property related to businessmen Alisher Usmanov, Oleg Savchenko, Alexei Mordashov, Gennady Timchenko, and TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov.
