Foreign tourists will be able to enter Indonesia subject to mandatory quarantine, the duration of which will depend on vaccination status. This follows from the official note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia sent to the diplomatic departments of foreign states. The document, signed on February 2, 2022, is at the disposal of the editors.
According to the updated regulations, foreign tourists can only enter Indonesia through Bali Airport or the seaport of Riau in the northwest of the country.
Upon entry, foreigners must provide a certificate of vaccination against coronavirus and a negative PCR test result made no earlier than 48 hours before departure.
You will also need to provide a short-stay visa or other entry permit, health insurance covering $25,000 that includes treatment for COVID-19, and proof of booking and payment for accommodation for the duration of your stay in Indonesia.
At the same time, even vaccinated citizens are still required to serve quarantine after entering Indonesia. For fully vaccinated tourists, it is five days, for the rest – seven days.
Upon entering Indonesia, citizens will be required to take two more PCR tests. The first is on the day of arrival, the second is the day before the end of the quarantine.
If the test is positive, but no symptoms of coronavirus are detected in the tourist, then he must be isolated in a hotel or in a centralized isolation room at his own expense. If symptoms of coronavirus are detected, the tourist is placed in a specialized hospital.
Business tourists entering the country under the Transport Corridor scheme are now exempt from mandatory quarantine. So far, it is available only to citizens of the UAE, China, South Korea and Singapore traveling with business visas.
All announced measures will be adjusted in accordance with the global situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the document says.
Indonesia announced the opening of borders for foreign tourists from February 1 this year.
So far, there is no talk of a massive recovery in demand in Bali, experts say. The stated conditions will be of interest, first of all, to long-term travelers: “winterers” and those who have their own property in Bali.
As for organized tourists, so far Indonesia is not available for the formation of a tourist product, since the operational headquarters has not yet decided to restore regular flights with this country.
