A $200,000 loss was brought to a Florida hotel by an offended teenager. A 16-year-old tourist quarreled with her mother and set fire to the hotel. The rest of the tourists had to be evacuated.
The details in the press are as follows: at 03:20, a 16-year-old girl set fire to a chair in the hotel corridor with a lighter and then called the emergency service about 5 minutes later. Firefighters had to evacuate 320 tourists staying at the hotel. The fire was extinguished for 7 minutes, meanwhile, the police detained the arsonist.
As the girl explained, she quarreled with her mother, after which she took another number. “She did not talk to me, did not return my calls and messages. I didn’t know what to do,” she said. At the same time, the mother of the arsonist assured that she had moved to a separate room so that the quarrel would not escalate and that she called her daughter to tell her the number of the room in which she stayed. But about 15 minutes later the fire alarm started ringing. She also assured that her daughter never did anything like that and “always was a good girl.”
The rest of the tourists returned to their rooms in the morning. However, in a statement to the police, the owners of the hotel said that the damage amounted to more than 200 thousand dollars.
