The world’s first virtual hotel M Social Decentraland has opened its doors in the metaworld.
M Social Decentraland, part of Singapore’s Millennium Hotels brand, launched its Decentraland virtual reality platform on May 5. Decentraland, which runs on the Ethereum blockchain platform, allows virtual reality enthusiasts to create avatars, buy land and interact in places and events hosted by various brands, including Coca-Cola and Fashion Week.
Visitors will be able to enter the hotel from a computer (not yet available from a mobile phone) and, setting up the device, download a digital wallet with cryptocurrency to stay overnight.
According to Millennium Hotels, M Social “is modeled on various brand hotels around the world” and “embodies the essence of the M Socia brand as a fashionable lifestyle to become a gathering place for all and discover the universe of virtual reality.”
Hotels under the M Social brand are in Singapore, Auckland, New York and Paris, and the hotel in Singapore was designed by interior star Philip Stark. The brand was launched by Millennium Hotels in 2016.
When you enter the “lobby” of M Social Decentraland from its virtual room in Genesis Plaza, you will be greeted by an avatar at the reception and populated into your room. With your avatar, you can interact with various online “guests” from around the world, attend events and overnight stays at the hotel.
Millennium Hotels says it plans to work with similar brands to organize experiences and events at the new virtual hotel.
In March, designers such as Paco Rabanne, Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger and others presented virtual collections at Metaverse Fashion Week in Decentraland.
In November, a 500-square-meter virtual plot of land in Decentraland sold for $ 2.43 million, breaking the record for the largest land acquisition in the metaverse.
