Many hotels in Thailand have announced price increases in the upcoming winter season. Moreover, some hotels announced a shocking increase in prices — by 40% at once.
Hoteliers explain this by the full-scale return of tourists to Thailand and, therefore, the lack of need to stimulate demand with discounts. This information is published by ATOR based on the stories of tour operators from the TTM+2023 exhibition, which ended on June 2 in Bangkok.
As the hotels stated, they forecast an increase in demand from tourists in the winter season of 2023/2024. As a result, if last season hoteliers tried to restrain prices to stimulate demand, now there is no such need. And prices will start to rise.
At the same time, the level of price increase is predicted to be different. A shocking volume was announced by the Holiday Style Ao Nang Beach Resort hotel in Krabi – about 40%. In Phuket, popular among Ukrainians, the Quality Resort hotel announced a 20% price increase. And Golden Tulip in Pattaya will raise prices by 10%, from 2,200 baht per day to 2,400 baht.
At the same time, hoteliers who raise prices for the winter season say that the increase in tariffs does not hurt the current volume of winter bookings. In any case, the price of a vacation in Thailand now depends more on ticket rates than on hotel rates, they are sure.
However, not all hotels are ready to raise prices — according to their owners, everything will depend on the volume of specific hotels, their winter occupancy level, and marketing policy. Some representatives of hotels in Phuket, Krabi, and other places popular with tourists said that price increases are not part of their plans.
