On the morning of March 13, a fire occurred at the Granada Luxury Beach 5* hotel in the Turkish resort of Alanya, in the Avsallar area.
Photos and videos of the incident appeared on social networks. They show a thick column of smoke rising from the hotel buildings.
As Turkish media reported, the flames broke out on the first floor and began to quickly spread upward. Many firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly joined in the fight against the fire. The fire was contained fairly quickly.
The Dip.org.ua portal contacted a representative of the Granada Luxury Hotels chain. He reported that the fire had been completely extinguished. The hotel was closed during the winter and will only open on April 6th. Therefore, there were no guests at the hotel at the time of the incident.
There is still almost a month before the first tourists arrive in the summer season; the hotel has time to put the building in order and repair the premises damaged by the fire.
Last summer, the Mediterranean region of Turkey, as well as some Greek islands, were engulfed in large-scale forest fires. Hotels in Turkish resorts were not damaged, but in Rhodes (Greece) the guests of one of the hotels had to be evacuated due to a rapidly approaching fire.
