The organizers of the Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) will exclude from the festival Russian institutions, delegations and individuals who support the Russian government in the war in Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the organizers of the event.
In light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, “there can be no question of expelling directors or cultural figures from the Berlinale or isolating them on national grounds,” the statement said. It states that the Berlinale is clearly opposed to a general boycott of cultural works on the basis of their origins.
“It is another matter to exclude from participation in the Berlinale official state, and in this case Russian institutions or delegations, as well as those who support the government,” – said the organizers of the festival.
