By decision of the German authorities in Hamburg, the 156-meter yacht of the founder of the USM holding, Alisher Usmanov, was confiscated. On March 3, according to Forbes.
According to the publication, the seizure of the vessel was the result of personal sanctions imposed on March 1 by the European Union against several dozen Russian officials and entrepreneurs. The restrictions, in particular, involve the freezing of foreign assets and property of businessmen.
Apparently, the confiscations decided to start with the most iconic objects. So, the Dilbar yacht was built by special order of Alisher Usmanov in 2016 and at that time cost $600 million. At the same time, the ship is considered unique in its class, it has a swimming pool, helipads, a sauna and a gym.
Note that against the background of this news, Russian billionaires began to ferry their ships to the Maldives. We are talking about at least five objects belonging to Oleg Deripaska, Alexander Abramov and Vladimir Potanin. The vessel of Alexei Mordashov, who previously left the TUI Supervisory Board due to sanctions, is moored in the Seychelles.
In addition, the White House has already officially announced that they are launching a whole campaign to seize property from Russian businessmen. “We are creating a multilateral transatlantic task force to identify, trace and freeze the assets of Russian companies and oligarchs under sanctions – their yachts, mansions and any other income,” President Joe Biden’s administration explained.
