The study showed in which countries it is easiest and hardest to get citizenship

Sweden is the first in the list of member states of the European Union, where citizenship is the easiest to obtain. This is evidenced by a study conducted by the Canadian immigration agency CanadaCIS, the portal SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

The analysis was conducted by collecting immigration data from 2009 to 2021. According to his data, every tenth applicant (9.3 percent) receives Swedish citizenship. In addition, Sweden has the highest acceptance rate for both genders.

Next on the list of countries that most easily grant citizenship to people from non-EU countries are the Netherlands, Portugal, and Iceland.

Meanwhile, the list of countries where it is most difficult to get an EU passport was topped by Estonia: here, approximately one out of every 200 applicants (0.6 percent) receive EU citizenship. Latvia, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania follow.

It is also reported that the average level of granting citizenship by EU countries to people from countries outside the European Union is 3.56 percent.
