Chinese authorities are tightening anti-coronavirus restrictions in the capital Beijing and other major cities.
So, yesterday the country recorded a record number of new cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic – 32,943 people were infected per day (31,444 people the day before).
Beijing residents now need PCR tests within 48 hours to enter shopping malls, hotels, government offices, and factories. A lockdown has been introduced in the capital of China: shops (except for grocery and pharmacies) are closed in several areas, restaurants and cafes work only to take away, and companies transfer employees to a remote mode of work.
In Zhengzhou, a five-day lockdown has been announced and mass testing has begun in eight districts of the city: 6.6 million people can only leave their homes to buy food and medicine.
In addition, restrictions have been tightened in Guangzhou and Shijiazhuang in northern China.
