New concerns in the European Union are canceling out old ones, but not everywhere. The Austrian capital has gone against the general trend of saying goodbye to the pandemic: Vienna has suddenly announced that it is stepping up measures against the coronavirus. The mayor of this city, Michael Ludwig, said that the capital will continue to follow a path different from the federal government. “Tougher measures are justified, nationwide mitigation happened too early,” he said.
In particular, the capital was previously supposed to ease the mask regime – but this was not done. They will also strengthen some of the rules for visiting medical institutions. There are no “tougher” rules about tourist visits.
