As a result of an avalanche in the Austrian Alps near the Swiss border, four people died and a fifth went missing, a spokesman for the rescue service said.
In recent days in this area there was a heavy snowfall, followed by a rise in temperature.
“It was one of 13 avalanches that hit Tyrol today. The snow fell outside the track, “said Patrick Ortler, one of the members of the rescue service.
Earlier, another avalanche descended on the ski slope of the popular Austrian resort of Sölden. At the moment, five people have been found during the rescue operation. No casualties were reported.
Switzerland and Austria also sent rescue helicopters near the Austrian border town of Spies, where another person was injured in a snowstorm.
