Egypt has launched an online portal for electronic visas to facilitate border crossing when tourists visit the country of the pyramids. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, the service is available to travelers from 74 countries and in eight languages, including Russian. This site is also suitable for Ukrainian tourists.
According to Egyptianstreets, the new visa portal will allow tourists of the countries listed on the website to easily apply for a single and multiple tourist visa, as it offers a detailed plan for the document. It is noted that the e-visa can be downloaded by applicants and will be checked by the authorities upon arrival in Egypt.
This portal also allows tourists to pay for a visa online using a debit / credit card and provides detailed instructions on how to start applying for an e-visa in Russian. One of the common complaints for arriving travelers in the past was the inability to pay for a visa with credit or debit cards at the airport because payment was required in US dollars or Egyptian pounds.
The cost of the visa fee for visiting Egypt for tourist purposes is:
- One-time visa $ 25
- Multiple-entry visa $ 60
According to the instructions on the site, a traveler applying online through the portal will need to make sure that he arrives in Egypt with the following documents:
- passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival;
- printout of his electronic visa;
- a copy of the travel route;
- cover letter (for business trips or family visits);
- Detailed information about booking hotels and places that tourists intend to visit.
According to the official website, the Egyptian passport authorities still have the right to deny any tourist entry into Egypt without explanation, as in the case of any other standard visas. There are other important disclaimers before the trial, which travelers can check at this link.
After a 70% decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Egyptian tourism has begun a slow recovery. According to Reuters, since the beginning of 2021, Egypt has received almost 500 thousand tourists. In connection with the general vaccination of tourism workers, Egypt is preparing and hopes for a full recovery of the tourism sector by the end of 2021.
