According to Bloomberg, Croatia is awaiting approval from the European Commission to join the Schengen area before the end of this year. This was stated by Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic.
In his opinion, Croatia’s accession to Schengen will facilitate visiting Croatian resorts for millions of tourists not only from Europe but also from third countries.
The Croatian authorities believe that the decision on Croatia becoming the 27th Schengen member will be made this autumn, at most before the end of the year.
Earlier, this country confirmed its readiness to completely switch to the euro from January 1, 2023. Thus, the number of eurozone member states will grow to 20. On this issue, the decision of the EC is expected in July.
Recall that Croatia has been in the European Union since 2013, but only now it has had the opportunity to join the Schengen zone. This is expected to attract investors to the country, and the development of the tourism industry will strengthen the local economy.
