Weather forecasters recently warned residents of South Florida (USA) about the “rain” from the impending iguana, associated with lowering the temperature to 4-10 degrees Celsius, according to Newsweek. According to weather forecaster Vivian Gonzalez, iguanas are cold-blooded animals, and when the temperature outside drops significantly, all processes in their body slow down. In winter, lizards often sleep on the branches of trees and therefore, frozen, can fall. “They become motionless at low temperatures and may fall from trees, but they are not dead. Do not come close. As soon as the sun rises, they will begin to move,” she warned.
Hurricane expert Eric Blake said it was important to be careful when passing trees in the fall season, as it is likely that a sleepy lizard will fall directly on the head of an American who went to work.
