The Pentagon is using artificial intelligence that can predict the future and warn it a few days before attacks on vulnerable objects in the United States, such as the Panama Canal, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the Global Information Dominance Experiments (GIDE), Americans use powerful computers to sort through vast amounts of data that help them notice small changes that people might otherwise miss – such as the number of cars. which are parked in the parking lot – and this can be a sign of threat. After a thorough check of the data, the computers can warn the police to send the officers to the scene.
The latest experiment, GIDE 3, focuses on “conflicting logistics” in a special scenario in which communication lines in the Panama Canal could be compromised.
General Glenn Van Herk, Commander of Northern Command (NORTHCOM), explains that GIDE combines artificial intelligence and cloud resources into powerful computers with data from sources around the world.
Founded in 1958 at the height of the Cold War, NORTHCOM is responsible for protecting North America primarily from air strikes (through the North American Space Defense Command or NORAD) and for providing naval warnings.
