CNN fired three employees who returned to work at the company’s offices without vaccination. The deadline for returning to work in the office for media employees has been extended by several weeks.
In a note to staff, Jeff Zucker, head of news and sports broadcasts at WarnerMedia, said the new environment surrounding the coronavirus pandemic had forced executives to be more careful about returning all employees to their offices by September 7, which was a preliminary goal. The new deadline has been postponed to mid-October.
“The bottom line is that, based on the information available today and what experts expect from the development of the September 7 pandemic, it no longer seems a suitable date,” Zucker said. “We have always said that we will be flexible in our decisions,” he said.
Zucker reminded the staff that vaccination is mandatory for office work. He reminded that if the company finds out about employees who came to work without implementing it, they will be fired. “Let me make it clear that we have a policy of absolute intolerance on this issue. You have to get vaccinated to get back to work in the office, ”Zucker said.
