British stores have limited the sale of vegetable oil because of the war

British supermarkets are increasingly imposing restrictions on the number of bottles of vegetable oil. The supply of sunflower oil is limited due to the war in Ukraine, reports the BBC.

Waitrose and Morrisons have already banned the purchase of more than two bottles per person. Tesco allows up to three bottles.

Most sunflower oil in the UK comes from Ukraine, and export disruptions have led to shortages and increased demand for alternatives.

The British Retail Consortium said the restrictions were a temporary measure “to ensure access for all citizens”.

The reduction in the supply of vegetable oil also led to a jump in prices for a valuable liquid.
