Paris remains the world’s leading city in the Euromonitor International Top 100 City Destinations for the third year in a row.
According to DailyMail, the study evaluates 55 metrics in six main areas: economic and business activity, tourism activity, infrastructure, policy and attractiveness for tourism, health and safety, and sustainability.
After Paris comes Dubai, followed by Madrid and Tokyo, which makes the top 10 for the first time thanks to improvements in tourism infrastructure. Amsterdam rounds out the top five. London dropped four places to 10th place, just two places ahead of New York, which moved up two places.
The top 10 also include Berlin, Rome, and Barcelona. In total, the ranking includes 12 European cities in the top twenty and 63 in the top 100. Among American cities, besides New York, only Los Angeles made it into the top twenty, ranking 19th. Cities from Central Asia are not represented in the ranking.
This year’s newcomers are Washington (48th), Montreal (68th), Santiago in Chile (88th), and Vilnius in Lithuania (92nd).
