A passenger plane flying from the UAE to New Zealand spent 13 hours in the air and returned to the same airport due to flooding at the point of arrival. The Daily Mail writes about it.
The Emirates flight was en route from Dubai to Auckland. The plane covered almost nine thousand miles (14.4 thousand kilometers) when it became known that the New Zealand airport did not accept international flights due to a state of emergency declared in connection with the flooding in the city.
The plane turned around and flew back over the ocean on the same route – the passengers spent about 13 hours in the air. It is noted that due to massive flight cancellations to Auckland, more than two thousand people were forced to stay overnight in the terminals.
