The UAE never ceases to amaze with its technical innovations. Recently, the Abu Dhabi Terminal Authority announced that it planned to launch an electric taxi with vertical takeoff and landing at the capital airports. Flying transport will be used for both passenger and cargo transportation. When exactly the first taxis will fly has not yet been specified. But, probably, tourists will be able to get unforgettable impressions from the transport of the future very soon.
Which air vehicles will be used in the service is still unknown. The development of such equipment is carried out by companies around the world, among which are the most significant automobile factories and taxi aggregators conducting experimental flights. These are Volkswagen, which demonstrated an air car with a flight range of 200 km, Hyundai, Xpeng, and others. It seems that interesting facts about Dubai will soon be replenished with another feature.
The report says that airports will participate in the planning, design, and operation of ground infrastructure for electric taxis together with the French company Groupe ADP.
For several years now, the Emirates has been actively exploring the possibilities of using pyrotechnics. So, four years ago, the Dubai police were given the use of flying motorcycles from the Hoversurf company, which are somewhat reminiscent of drones with open blades.
It was previously reported that as early as next year, Japanese Xturismo flying motorcycles, which were presented at the Gitex Global international technology exhibition in Dubai, could begin to be produced in Abu Dhabi next year. The cost of such a hoverbike is 777 thousand US dollars. Its tests were carried out in the USA, and more than 10 such models have already been sold in Japan.
This motorcycle weighs the same as a regular road bike – 300 kg. Its speed does not exceed 100 km / h, and its flight range is 40 km. So far, it is allowed to fly on it only over race tracks.
And in October, the first eVTOL X2 flying electric car equipped with an intelligent flight control system was launched in Dubai. Recall that a year ago, the United Arab Emirates set out to completely abandon carbon emissions by 2050.
