The “year of upheaval”, as 2022 has been called for the airline industry, did not bring many surprises in terms of the leaders of the ranking of the best airlines for 2022. The first place was taken by a carrier that has taken it several times already: seven times since 1999, to be exact, and it is Qatar Airways. This is the result of the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022 rating – the event was held for the first time since 2019.
To create this ranking, Skytrax, a UK-based airline and airport review and rating site, conducted more than 14 million customer surveys in more than 100 countries between September 2021 and August 2022. The “silver” and “bronze” the rating are also expected – Singapore Airlines and Emirates, which also consistently occupy prize places.
At the awards ceremony, the first to be held “in real mode” since the Covid-19 crisis, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker thanked his “fantastic employees” for their “continued dedication and drive” and said that “to receive these awards in the same year, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary, even more rewarding.” According to him, the secret of the airline’s sustainable success is the following: “Constant service, stable product, constant attention to passengers and absolute dedication of everyone who works at the airline.”

Finally, an interesting fact from the “year of upheavals.” The most scandalous low-cost airline, the Irish airline Ryanair, managed to win an award for the first time — and in the nomination “Best Budget Airline in Europe.” “This summer, during the aviation chaos, it became one of the most reliable airlines in the region, canceling a relatively small number of flights and even offering “rescue” flights in July and August to help people in a difficult situation,” experts explained their choice.
