In August, Dubai International Airport became the world’s busiest international airport, handling 4.1 million people, surpassing London’s Heathrow.
Aviation company OAG reported that Dubai International Airport received 4.1 million people in August. In the second quarter of 2022, the airport recorded 14.2 million passengers, up 190.6 percent from last year.
Second place on the list was occupied by London Heathrow Airport, which received 3.4 million people. Also in the top ten were Amsterdam (3.15 million), Paris Charles de Gaulle (3.14 million), Istanbul (2.9 million), Frankfurt (2.9 million), Doha (2.2 million), London Gatwick (2.094 million), Singapore Changi (2.089 million) and Madrid (2.012).
The top ten included routes Dubai – Riyadh, Mumbai – Dubai, Dubai – London, Dubai – Jeddah, Delhi – Dubai, and Bahrain – Dubai. The most popular was Kuala Lumpur – Singapore, which was used by 325,350 people.
