Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has to pay his ex-wife $ 728 million or 541 million pounds. This was ruled by the British Supreme Court, which is considering a divorce between Al-Maktoum and Hai Bint Al-Hussein, who fled to London a few years ago.
The money will be used to cover the protection of Princess Haya for the rest of her life, as well as the maintenance of their two children aged 9 and 14. The amount to be received by the heirs of the Dubai sheikh is more than $ 330 million.
Princess Haya fled to London with her two children in 2019, saying she feared for her life. The British Supreme Court sided with her. She now lives in London in a mansion worth £ 85 million. Haya is the sister of King Abdullah II of Jordan.
Initially in Britain, Haya said that the reason for her escape was the intention of Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum to marry their 11-year-old daughter Jalila to the heir to the throne of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman.
Sheikh al-Maktoum, for his part, claims that the princess betrayed him with his former bodyguard.
